This is the time a woman is at her most beautiful. Her body in a sense becomes more hers and less hers. Not only is Janette a maternity photographer but she knows what it feels like to be pregnant and remembers feeling at times much less than perfect, less than comfortable in this burgeoning new body, but she promises you that the time you spend in front of her camera will make you feel wonderful, gorgeous and sensual. When is the best time for a Pregnancy Portrait Session?
Janette is often asked, “What is the best time for a pregnancy portrait shoot?” Most clients prefer to have their pregnancy photographs taken in the seventh or eighth month. Often by the ninth month you begin to feel very tired and also, as a mother of a preemie, we know those little ones are unpredictable!
Clothes and Styling for the Maternity Photography Session
With a maternity photography shoot the old adage “less is more” is correct. Your pregnant body is beautiful and you should show it off! Many women are happy with wearing nothing at all for their maternity portrait session but Janette provides a lot of wraps that cling sensually to your body as well as beautiful clothing: shawls, skirts, scarves, tops and dresses that look elegant with the pregnant body.
In addition to what Janette will provide, she will have you choose a few articles of clothing you love for your maternity photography shoot. A pair of sexy underwear is always important – a black and nude pair are preferable. Together we will decide on the several changes of clothing you will wear during your pregnancy photography shoot.
The Pregnancy Photography Session: Inside or Outside?
You can choose to have your pregnancy photography session shot on location, in Janette’s studio located in Pawling, NY or at your home. Wherever you will feel the most comfortable. Janette loves to combine a maternity photography shoot with indoor and outdoor shots, weather permitting. If you choose to shoot your pregnancy photography session in your home we bring along our portable photography studio with backdrops and lighting, though Janette believes natural lighting is always best if used correctly by a professional photographer.
Hair and Make-Up for the Maternity Photography Session
While Janette believes that natural hair and makeup looks best in maternity photography, a hair and make-up artist is recommended and provided at an additional cost. And you might want to consider having a manicure and pedicure before your pregnancy photography shoot.
